Croke Park

Croke Park is located on the north side of Dublin and has a capacity of up to 82,300.

At the beginning of September 2004 John O’Donoghue, Irish Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism, officially announced the redevelopment of Lansdowne Road into a 50,000 capacity all-seater stadium, due to be completed in 2009.

Croke Park is being used by the Ireland rugby side during the redevelopment of Lansdowne Road. In addition to Gaelic sports, Croke Park has played host to the very best of Australia’s AFL talent, and boxing legend Muhammad Ali. The venue has also seen performances from the musical talents of U2 and Tina Turner.

Croke Park also played host to the spectacular opening and closing ceremonies of the Special Olympics World Summer Games in 2003, the first time these events were held outside the United States.

There are also an impressive array of restaurants, bars and conference areas, all of which make Croke Park an ideal rugby union facility.

When England visited for the first time on February 24, 2007, the rousing atmosphere produced by the passionate home crowd was one of the highlights of the tournament – and inspired the Irish to a thumping 43-13 win.
